I am so excited about Bead-Side Manner

Every day we are given opportunities to be happy, to share happiness, to see the world from different perspectives and to challenge ourselves make the most of those opportunities.

Here is the story of Bead-Side Manner

Since the day I started this wonderful world of beading, I have wanted to share the experience with people and have looked for ways to somehow use beading to make people happy.

My first project which I did on a very small scale for about a year was to send a Red, White and Blue patriotic bracelet to mothers who had sons or daughters overseas fighting. I felt very strong about doing this because as a mother I am nervous sending my children to school. I cannot even imagine how difficult it is to know every day that your child is in harm's way "occupationally". I thought someone should let the mothers of solders know that we appreciate their sacrifice too. I decided to do this when I heard about a woman in Arizona who upon reading of a child's death would anonymously send a bracelet to the mother in the hopes of providing some small token of comfort.

So, last year I was on an airplane flipping through a beading magazine, and I read an article about some women who would visit hospitals with beads, and spend time with the children making jewelry.

I was so inspired by this and thought it was the perfect venue for me and so I decided to bring the idea to Arizona. Since beading and jewelry making mentally takes me away from the world, I believe this will have the same effect on children who need something else to think about if even for an hour or two. Hence... BEAD-SIDE MANNER was born!

Thanks to my good friend Tanya Sarkisian, We made our first visit to a local hospital in Phoenix in Feburay, 2008.
